Riley Christian McCord was born on April 10th 1982 to Kristin and James. A young couple still in high school. Shortly after Riley was born James decided he did not want anything to do with Kristin and Riley anymore so he claimed the baby was not his. He changed his mind eventually but they still ended the relationship when James family moved away because of a Job transfer and contact was lost between James and Kristin. After James left it was difficult for Kristin finishing her high school career with a young son. Her parents Kim and Jay bless their heart they helped her as much as possible and she graduated and went off to college and Riley was left with the grandparents during the day, It wasn't easy but Kristin managed to graduate high school with straight A’s. She had always been a good student and she never let her grades slip even when she was pregnant. She always made up her work if she missed a class. She decided to go to college closer to home to spend time with her baby boy. Riley never did have a father figure in his life and that was okay. Kristin vowed she would be the mother and father to her little boy.
Kristin and Riley both shared a love for sports. One of the favorite activities early on was watching sports and when Riley was older playing catch in the yard. Every year they would watch the world series together and the playoffs when Riley was old enough to understand what was going on. They both shared a favorite sports team. Kristin would go to all of Riley’s games and cheer him on starting with little league and not stopping until the high school football team won the state championship. She didn't go to a lot of the college games because she wanted to let him have his own space and do things with his friends. Her little boy had grown up into a man.
Riley was a ordinary kid he excelled in school, he got his smarts from his mom she told him. He was just dedicated to sports as well as his school work. He always liked to read and learn as much as he could from books as well as asking all sorts of questions about things to his teachers. The girls also couldn't get enough of Riley because he was a good looking nice kid who was a athlete as well as being smart so that interested the girls even more. Unknown to Riley he had caught the attention of Emily Thompson a freshmen cheerleader one day at football practice. He had left a impression on her that never really left her from then on. They eventually went on a blind date but nothing came of it until prom night when he became her night in shining armour and saved her prom from being ruined because her date left her for another girl. They ended up getting together for that one night and that was pretty much it for awhile because a ex girlfriend of Riley’s came up with this rumor that She was having Riley’s child and Riley denied it and in the end it ended up being exactly that a rumor. The end result was Emily told Riley she needed some time away because she was going to school out of state but at the last minute she ended up attending USC where he was.
During their time apart it only made them both realize that they couldn't be apart from each other because they were constantly thinking about each other. One day at a hockey game that her friends persuaded her to go to she saw him standing off to the side taking a drink of water after a game. She walked over and instead of a greeting she kissed him he kissed her back and from then on one was rarely without the other. He fell quickly for her, and the two of them became inseparable. They argued a lot, but that didn't force them to break-up like many people thought that it would. Instead it only made their relationship grow stronger, and they moved in together shortly after he graduated. Upon graduation, he was already set up to play for the LA Kings as a right defense. During halftime of one of his games, he finally met his step-family, consisting of Brian and Rudy, that informed him that their parents got married. It was a shock to say the least, but at least now he had more people to refer to as his family.
It was in his second season of hockey that he got himself severely injured and had to stop playing it all together. Because of this life changing event, he decided that it was finally time to tie the knot with Emily. He kept trying to find the right moment to do so, and it finally did. He took her back to the hockey rink where they had shared that mountain moving kiss and got down on one knee. He was thrilled when she had said yes, and he couldn't imagine ever being happier than he was at that moment. And even though she drove him crazy with all of the wedding plans, he was glad when May 30, 2009 came around. Marrying her meant everything to him, and to make the occasion more special for his bride he purposely didn't tell her the location of their honeymoon, if only to just see the surprise on her face when they got there. They spent the majority of their time hanging all over one another, but he wouldn't have had it any other way.
Now they're back to their normal lives and getting adjusted to the married life while taking care of their new golden retriever puppy that they decided to name 'Goldie'.
